Easy Beefy Barbacoa

La Tortilla Factory Barbacoa Sauce Starter
3oz 2 pounds beef shanks  or boneless beef chuck roast, cut into 2 inch pieces
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons sliced red onions

Heat oil in a medium cast iron casserole over medium heat. 
Brown meat on all sides.
In a small bowl, whisk water and Sauce Starter until smooth, pour over meat.
Add the red onions.  
Cover and cook over low heat for 2-3 hours or until meat is fork tender and falls apart easily. Remove meat from casserole and transfer to a medium bowl.
Using two forks, shred the beef into bite-sized pieces .
Use a pair of tongs to serve the most tender, flavorful and delicious Beef Barbacoa.
Perfect with corn or flour tortillas or warm crispy taco shells for taco night.
Top with shredded lettuce, chopped cilantro, diced avocado and jalapeno (optional).
